When an unexpected situation arose for the B family and dad had travel for their scheduled shoot, this Loudoun County family photographer was able to do a Mommy & Me session and I absolutely love how they turned out!
With the dawn of the digital age and our reliance on social media, we document EVERYTHING. We post funny moments, happy moments, sad moments and nothing seems to be off limits these days. However, there’s one incredibly important thing that’s almost always missing in the photos – MOM! And this Loudoun County family photographer is hoping to change that ASAP!
We are all guilty of this. I own Second Ave Photography plus I’m a mom and I am still guilty of not getting in the photos with my family. So many of us spend exhaustive amounts of energy creating everyday magic for our children. We plan Pinterest-worthy crafts, recipes, décor, and more.
We make sure our kids have the perfect coordinating outfits for the sunflower fields, apple picking, or whatever the fill-in-the-blank seasonal must-experience moment is and fuss over getting the perfect shot. Meanwhile, we’ve been up all night and probably have on a dirty t-shirt, yoga pants, and a pony tail. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that – I’m rocking that look right now!)
Because of this, we never get in the photo ourselves. Moms, I can’t stress this enough. It doesn’t matter if you have on no make-up, the clothes you wore yesterday, or haven’t had a haircut the entire pandemic. Get in the pictures! The sad reality is we won’t live forever. One day, our children will be looking through photos – most likely on hard drives instead of albums because we never have time to print. And when they go through 10,000 photos of their picture-perfect moments, the only thing they will actually want to see is the person who made it all possible for them – YOU.
To our children, we are perfect. They don’t care what we are wearing – okay maybe some of our teens have opinions – but you get my point. They don’t care if your hair and makeup isn’t perfect or how you look in a bathing suit at the beach. They just love MOM. There’s nothing that can ever replace the special connection moms have with their children.
