Figured I’d update everyone on how our little butterfly garden is doing. Happy to report that it seems there is life to it! The milkweed still hasn’t come up, but the woodland sunflowers are off to a great start. This is one of the three we planted; they all pretty much look the same.
My dad says dandelions are just pretty flowers that grew in the wrong spot. They don’t bother me but I think the seed-head stage is particularly pretty. You might also know that I’m a sucker for pretty much anything yellow.
Our bird feeder is also seeing lots of action – my best guess is this is a Black-capped Chickadee, but if there are any avid bird-watchers out there who have a different guess, please let me know. We also have one male and two female resident cardinals that have been around for years, who kept chasing him away…but this persistent little guy just kept coming back for more. And the robins very much enjoyed his leftovers from the ground. I’m like a regular bird lady!
