It’s no secret that 2020 has been full of unexpected surprises – some more appealing than others. Dumpster fire comes to mind pretty much every time we turn on the news or scroll through social media each day. At the same time, having this extra time at home with our family is something we can cherish for a lifetime. As a Loudoun County family photographer, there is nothing better than being able to freeze these tiny moments for your family.
It’s easy to be overwhelmed by everything that’s happening around us. Whether it’s how to handle the pandemic, political issues, or school changes there are so many things that feel out of our control. The new to-do list at hand can feel pretty daunting. But, we’ve got this! As parents, we are experts at controlled chaos. If you think about it, we’ve actually been training for 2020 for years! Rolling with the punches and focusing on the joy in every day is what we all aspire to do. And we are even successful at it…most of the time.
Second Ave Photography had so much fun capturing the beautiful L family in the midst of the dumpster fire of 2020. Documenting this crazy year with some locations perfect for remembering the good as well as all of the challenges we handled in style was truly an awesome opportunity for this Loudoun County family photographer.
Even when the building is on metaphorical fire, we can all stand hand in hand and get through it together. Somehow when we see the smiles on our children’s faces, we can forget about everything else and focus on the joy.
“You can see how they go from being so sweet to tearing your face off, just like that, and it’s amazing to have that range.”
Carole Baskin – remember when The Tiger King was the craziest thing we had going on?
Carole Baskin might seem nutty, but her words probably resonate with a lot of parents these days. We can all hug each other a little tighter, have a laugh, and focus on the every day joy. And maybe pour a glass of wine. Even if it’s lunchtime.

Melinda McClellanLove your pics of the L fam. I happen to know and love them, and you captured them beautifully, dumpsters and all.
