Recently, I’ve had an urge to stretch myself creatively. To go to a place I’ve never been, that isn’t necessarily “beautiful” and see what happens. Luckily, this very good-looking family happens to be expecting a little pumpkin around Halloween and found themselves in need of a maternity photographer. They were game to play along in my little experiment and picked me up so we could explore together for just the right spot.
I knew I wanted a field of yellow wild flowers. The thing is, while I see them all over, they aren’t always big enough or easily accessible. We drove around together and found this patch way out in the middle of western Loudoun County, next to a roundabout and in-between power lines. You’ll get to see the pull back shot when I guest blog over at Apple and Pear in November. It was perfect. Dad assembled beautiful bouquets of flowers for mama and his precious daughter. We identified the various sounds of nature and decided that I am probably better suited to the beach life. We ended the session with bales of hay, completing our country feel.
And can we talk about how beautifully coordinated they are?? Not matching but each outfit complements the other 3 so no matter what combination we did, they would all look like they were at the same session. I also love that they are not overly “Fall-ish.” These are going to look absolutely beautiful hanging on their walls!
I’d love to do this more often. Is there anywhere you’ve been wanting to check out, or somewhere you’d like to see me go?? Tell me in the comments! (Or email me to get your session set up!)
